Features and Options The tractor is only so much without the attachments; otherwise it’s just a slow-moving, bulky vehicle. The most common type of attachment to moving materials around is the front-end loader. A loader can be used for carrying dirt, rocks, mulch, or other loose materials, or for leveling or landscaping work. The tractor loader is usually placed on the front end of the tractor leaving the back end free for further attachments.Other popular attachments are: -Box blades- used for scraping or pushing earth, grading, leveling or bulldozing applications. -Mowers- these are used for rough cut and brush mowers for cutting through heavy growth and finish mowers. -Tillers, plows, disk harrows- are used for preparing fields. -Plows, blowers- used for snow removal -Backhoes- used for serious digging, but can be expensive as attachments and are not supported by all tractors. Attachments are joined to the tractor via a power take off unit, otherwise known as a PTO. When using an attachment joined to the PTO of a tractor, the horsepower rating of the PTO should be high enough to provide to fuel the attachments. |
