The World’s Largest Combine Harvester 12/02/2008 If you go to the fertile rich farm lands of Russia, or the U.S. you might see one of these giants rolling across a vast plain, a cloud of dust following it. And you may find yourself looking at the world’s largest combine harvester, the Lexion 590R. This monster of a combine can harvest up to 80 bushels an hour. With its massive girth, the Lexion has amazing crop yielding capacity whether its corn, wheat, rice or barley. About 30 Wheat bushels can be harvested in a minute which adds up to 1,800 an hour. This fast rate of productivity is a necessity when harvesting some of largest hectares of farm land in the world. To show the scale of the Lexicon, the Auger which unloads the harvested crop is 26 feet, the largest in the world and can unload 3.3 bushels of grain a second. While the largest foldable grain tank in the world holds 360 bushels. |
