New Holland Tractor Plant In Fargo Can’t Keep Up With Demand 16/02/2008

The fast rising profits of the farming industry has meant tractor manufacturer Case-New Holland in Fargo, is struggling to meet the demand. Plant manager Erik Olson said, “We have hired in the last 12 months about 120 new people and we still need to hire 100 more in first four months of this year.” The Fargo plant which makes five types of farm and construction tractors is enjoying the healthy profits by getting a brand new coat of paint and more welding robots, and hiring new workers. Calling the rise in demand, “unprecedented” Olson said, “If there is an issue, our issue is probably the need for more welders.”

New Holland spokesman Tom Witcom said the Fargo plant’s expansion is not surprising given the massive increase on the global market for farm equipment and construction equipment. New Holland reported that, earnings for the fourth quarter of 2007 were already rising. Although this is not just in the US, the retail volume for farm equipment is up in just about every region of the world. Witcom said, “With particular strength in high horsepower tractors, combines and in development markets.”
