Track Plates Made To Suit And Support Sub-sea Tractor 04/12/2007 A new model of the subsea tractor has recently been developed by Soil Machine Dynamics. This has meant the production of the largest plastic track plates to be on the market yet have been manufactured by Quadrant Engineering Plastics Products. Installation of the interconnecting array cables is the main function of the sub-sea tractor. The machine runs on a D6 chain and is able to collect the power from offshore wind turbines. The ground at wind farm sites can be very moist and the soil particularly weak, however the Nylatrack track plates are still able to offer the support that is needed for the sub-sea tractor regardless of the fact that it weighs nearly 60t when it is loaded to it’s maximum capacity. The Nylatrack plates are cast from nylon that has been modified to suit the needs of the numerous different models of machinery and for all working conditions. These plates are particularly durable in comparison to other steel plates. They are up to 80% lighter than most other steel plates meaning that they save up 2500kg per machine. There is little noise pollution that comes from the track plates due to the vibrations being absorbed. Broken chains are no longer a problem as the bending force is absorbed. The width, weight and chain pitch for the machines varies and can go up to 30t weight. Different designs can be produced according to the working conditions that the machinery will be put through. |
